Helene d Lacelle is a self-taught artist and resident of   Chipman, NB, Canada

She has been painting all her life. Fascinated with colour and shapes, she moves creatively between the shapes of things she sees in her mind and in the urban landscape.

Her colourful paintings and collages playfully reference aspects of popular culture as well as nature and art history.

After fifteen years of living, painting and exhibiting on Toronto’s Queen West district, Lacelle was selected by the NFB as one of five persons to represent Ontario artists for the documentary, ‘NOMADE’. During the mid 1990’s she set out on a two-year tour showing her art across Canada in various venues.

Her work has also been exhibited in the U.S. and Mexico. Helene is not only a recognized artist but also an actor/co-producer of several feature films, has illustrated several books and is the co-creator of the on-line publishing company bookshandmade.com.
